Crime Watch - Kenwood and Glen Ellen



The following are some of the recent calls from the Kenwood and Glen Ellen area to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Sonoma Valley Substation.

Feb. 4

At 3:17 p.m. at Highway 12 and Chateau St. Jean Court, a suspicious person was contacted, identified and released.

Deputies were dispatched to investigate a fraud allegation in the 1600 block of Warm Springs Road but were unable to determine if a fraud had actually occurred. They closed the matter, pending new information.

In the 100 block of Laurel Avenue in Kenwood, deputies investigated and talked to neighbors after a resident chased a man off her property just after 7 p.m. The suspect ran off after the woman yelled at him, and deputies were unable to locate him.

Feb. 5

At 6:15 p.m. in the 12000 block of Henno Road an argument between a married couple became physical. The victim sustained visible injuries and a cell phone was destroyed. The 51-year-old Santa Rosa man was arrested and charged with felony spousal battery, felony damage to a wireless communication device, and violation of misdemeanor probation.

A suspicious person was reprimanded and released on Arnold Drive at Madrone Road just before 11 p.m.

Feb. 7

Deputies took a report of identity theft on Treehaven Lane in Kenwood. Wal-Mart called the victim to check on a $441 purchase that the victim said she didn’t make. An unknown suspect used victim’s personal information to open a Visa account and make several online purchases.

A couple parked in Nun’s Canyon at 8 p.m. were contacted and released.

Feb. 8

An attempted burglary in the 14000 block of Arnold Drive was reported at 3:15 in the afternoon. The resident reported the hinges on her door had been tampered with.

Feb. 9

In the 100 block of Greene Street, Kenwood, deputies calmed an ongoing issue between neighbors over a dog belonging to one of the neighbors.

Feb. 12

A resident of the 2300 block of Trinity Road reported that when she investigated a noise at her side door at about 9:15 p.m., she saw a suspect with a pry tool trying to pry open the window. The suspect took off running, and she saw him meet up with a second suspect, get into a vehicle and drive down her driveway, leaving the area. The suspect was described as a white, male adult, from 19 to 22 years of age, 5-foot, 9 to 11-inches, and wearing a black watch cap. The victim could not describe the second suspect and said the vehicle was a tan, full-sized pickup truck.

A resident of the 15000 block of Marty Drive reported his dog was going crazy, barking about 9 p.m. When he opened the front door, he saw footprints from wet bare feet, but nobody around. A suspicious circumstances report was taken.

Feb. 13

Deputies were dispatched to Dawn Hill Road at 6:12 p.m. after receiving a complaint of loud music, part of ongoing issues at cabins on the property. The deputy spoke to everybody, and referred the matter to the property manager to resolve tenant issues.

At 9:14 a.m., after finding methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during a probation search at a residence in the 14000 block of Arnold Drive, deputies arrested two of the three subjects at the residence. A 48-year-old male living in the Glen Ellen house was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. A 39-year-old male resident of the house was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor probation violation.

Someone reported hearing rifle fire from a southerly direction for 20 minutes in the 200 block of Frey Road at about 3 p.m. A second person in Oakmont reported gunfire coming from the southwest. The shooting had stopped by the time deputies arrived and they could not determine the source since sound bounces around in the area.

Lots of people kept showing up for an already loud party on Glen Ellen’s Gibson St. The noise was abated at about 9:38 p.m. after deputies showed up.

Feb. 14

A person waiting to meet someone at the Kenwood gas station witnessed what he believed to be a drug transaction just after noon. The vehicle involved was gone by the time deputies arrived, and they were unable to locate it.

Gibson St. at Hill Road continued to be party central, with a resident reporting a party at 10:30 p.m. at a house near the corner, with underage drinking and about 40 people out of control. Deputies abated the situation.
