Kenwood School adds 2nd Kindergarten class
Due to increased demand, Kenwood School has added a second Kindergarten class.
Principal/Superintendent Bob Bales said each class will have 19 children. Longtime Kindergarten teacher Karla Schloemp will teach one class, and current 5-6 combined class teacher Amy Ensley will teach the other. Both classes will take place in the morning.
The 5-6 combined class will be discontinued for the next school year.
Bales said this is the first time in his 12 years at the school that there will be two Kindergarten classes.
“We’re very excited about the increased interest families have in our school,” said Bales. Bales said that though the two Kindergarten classes are currently full, those still interested can apply and get on a waiting list.
Anticipated total enrollment for the K-6 school next year is 160, about 10 students higher than the current year.
