Richard Elkins, Glen Ellen resident
Richard Lawrence Elkins, 63, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2010, in Sonoma. Richard was born on September 17, 1946, in Los Angeles, and attended the San Marino Academy and Notre Dame Academy grade schools, followed by two years at Queen of Angels Seminary in San Fernando Valley and Santa Monica High School. Before joining the Army he attended Whittier College.
Richard was a U.S. Army retired Master Sergeant. He served in Mainz, Germany, Seoul, Korea, and Naples, Italy, during his 21-year career with the Army. Richard received various medals for meritorious service. He was a resident of Glen Ellen for the past 15 years and worked at Sonoma Valley Hospital, Sonoma Developmental Center and the local Sonoma business, Imperial. Richard was an avid, competitive swimmer, an accomplished bowler, and loved being outdoors. His family and friends will always recall their happy memories of his numerous “fun in the sun” experiences.

Richard is survived by his three children, Julie, Michelle and Paul; his mother, Eve Matthews; sister, Carol; and brother, James.
