More to love and to eat at Horatius

Horatius, the coffee bar and eatery in Glen Ellen's Jack London Village, is providing more reasons for locals to keep coming back. Horatius is expanding its food menu, now offering daily fresh-made soups prepared with organic and seasonal ingredients. “Unlike other places that defrost pre-made soups, we are taking the route less travelled to offer 'homemade' soups that stand out in quality and taste. We put more quality ingredients and time into the preparation of our freshly made soups,” said owner Horacio Gomes. Horatius also serves made-to-order sandwiches and salads. Soon, Horatius will be launching personal sized gourmet pizzas and other dishes.

Gomes, who is proud of his Portuguese heritage, stocks Horatius' wine lounge with Portuguese wines. With summer approaching, Portuguese sparkling wines are in fashion for making mimosas, and Horatius has created the “Horatius Maracujosa,” replacing the usual orange juice with imported Portuguese passion fruit pulp. For daily updates on specials, contact Horatius at 934-8496. Horatius is open six days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., except for Tuesdays.

Broadway's back

The 2017 season of Wine Country's favorite Broadway concert show, Broadway Under the Stars, will begin June 16, and tickets are on sale now. Transcendence Theatre's Broadway Under the Stars is an award-winning series of Broadway-inspired concerts featuring performers from New York and Los Angeles - artists who often come to the Sonoma stage directly from recent Broadway appearances. More than a standard musical revue, each show weaves well-known Broadway and popular songs into a spectacular themed performance in the open-air, 150-year-old Winery Ruins at Jack London State Historic Park.

All events begin with picnicking among the vineyards of Jack London's historic Beauty Ranch meadow - including gourmet food truck fare, an assortment of local wineries pouring, and pre-show music from local musicians. Sunset heralds the start of the show. As dusk descends, the Broadway stars sing and dance under a starlit nighttime sky.

Tickets to Broadway Under the Stars shows range from $40 to $149, with an Early Bird $5 discount until May 1. Special youth prices are available for Fantastical Family Night shows only. Season Flex Passes available (three to four shows). $5 of every ticket sold for Broadway Under the Stars shows benefits Jack London State Historic Park.

For more information about Transcendence Theatre Company's 2017 season and to purchase tickets for the concerts this summer, visit the website at or call the box office at 877-424-1414.
