House of Happy Walls getting a makeover
The House of Happy Walls at Jack London State Park officially closed to the public on Jan. 29 to begin a multi-million dollar renovation and installation of new exhibits. The design, fabrication, and installation of exhibits is anticipated to be completed by the end of May with hopes that the “new” museum will re-open to the public in early June. In the meantime, the cottage will function as the main visitor center. Cottage fees will be waived, hours extended to 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., the retail area expanded, and staffing levels increased to accommodate guests.
