Saturday March 29th - 10:30amHelga Brichet has been gardening with roses for more than four decades, particularly her unique collections of Chinas and Hybrid Giganteas. More recently, collections of Hybrid Sempervirens and “Mystery Roses” from Bermuda are becoming established, and Brichet’s ambition is to introduce old and historical roses, exclusively from China, to rose lovers in the western hemisphere.
Brichet will give a presentation at Quarryhill Botanical Garden in Glen Ellen on Saturday, March 29 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Brichet’s love for and knowledge of roses have led to many awards and influential roles at the World Federation of Rose Societies and international trials for new rose varieties. Today, she is not only immersed in rose culture, but also writes about them in various publications, such as The Encyclopedia of Rose Science and Italian Rosanova, and is a regular columnist for the American Rose Society’s monthly magazine.
