Observatory marks Women’s History Month with special presentation Robert Ferguson Observatory

Robert Ferguson Observatory will celebrate Women’s History Month on Saturday, March 29, with its usual solar viewing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Solar telescopes will be set up to listen to and look safely at the Sun. Admission to solar viewing is free.

At 8 p.m. the Public Star Party will begin. The special guest speaker for March will be Laura Sparks, a Santa Rosa Junior College Astronomy instructor. Sparks will pay tribute to the unsung “Women in Astronomy.” A second presentation will be on our sister planet Venus. The observatory’s three main telescopes, plus many additional telescopes, will be open for viewing. Admission to the Star Party is $3 per adult; under 18 free.

Friendly and knowledgeable docents are always available to answer questions. Please arrive before 11 p.m. to assure that the observatory stays open for you. Sugarloaf parking is $8 per car.
