Photography contest and workshop at Quarryhill

Saturday March 7th - 1:00pmQuarryhill Botanical Garden in Glen Ellen is holding a photo contest during the month of March. Anytime in March, you may submit a photo of either the garden at Quarryhill or the sculpture exhibit. A weekend stay at Quarryhill will be awarded for the best garden photo, and a mini-sculpture by acclaimed sculptor Bruce Johnson, will be awarded for the best sculpture photo. The winners will be announced during the art walk and carving demonstration led by Johnson on Saturday, April 4, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Email your photos to email@example.com.
To help you take the best photos possible, garden photographer and author Saxon Holt will be teaching a photography class on Saturday, March 7, 1 to 5 p.m. Holt is a life-long gardener who spent his professional time as a commercial photographer when he discovered gardening photography in 1985.
The class will start with a presentation from Holt’s e-book, “Good” Garden Photography, on Composition and Balance, followed by a hands-on lesson, and ending with a review of photos taken in the garden. Bring your camera, and if you wish to participate in the critique, bring a laptop and be able to download your photos from the camera.
The class includes a complimentary copy of one of Holt’s many garden books. Cost is $50 for members, $60 for nonmembers. To sign up, call 996-3166 or visit quarryhillbg.org.
