Youth education docents needed at Quarryhill Quarryhill Botanical Garden

Wednesday July 29th - 9:00am

Quarryhill Botanical Garden is a 25-acre woodland botanical garden near Glen Ellen, featuring over 20,000 wild-origin plants in a natural setting. Itís not only a modern-day ark of rare and beautiful plants, but a place where education and conservation are at the heart of the mission and run as deep as the tranquil ponds and seasonal waterfalls that flow through it.

Quarryhill is on track to host 1,400 students this coming academic year in its science education program, but in order to accommodate this growing demand, they need more youth education docents.

In addition to the environmental education benefits of volunteering at Quarryhill, there are also many personal and social benefits as well, such as meeting new people, making friends, connecting with your community, and making a difference in peopleís lives.

If you have a passion for teaching children, but are afraid you donít know enough about plants, donít worry: You donít need to have a botanical or horticultural background to be a youth education docent. Quarryhill docent training will teach you everything you need to know. Training will be held on six Wednesdays, from July 29 through Sept. 2, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. To sign up, call Eva Corbin at 996-6027 or email her at ecorbin@quarryhillbg.org.
