Robert Ferguson Observatory
Saturday July 11th - 11:00amThe Robert Ferguson Observatory in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park will have public telescope viewing periods on July 11 and 18.
There will be solar viewing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Solar telescopes will be set up to safely look at everyone’s favorite star, the sun. Admission is free.
Starting at 9 p.m., there is a Star Party, with the three main telescopes available, as well as others. Presentations on astronomical topics will be given in the classroom. Docents will be on hand to answer any questions. Please arrive before 10 p.m. Admission is $3 per adult, and anyone under 18 is free.
There is an $8 parking fee to enter Sugarloaf.
The observatory is available for private events for groups of up to 50 people. Call 833-6679 and leave a message with your name, phone number, preferred dates, and a brief description of your group. Someone will call you back to arrange the details. Your group will have access to the telescopes and knowledgeable docents. Cost is $165. An adjacent large campground is available for use as well, for an additional cost of $165.
