On Saturday, April 9, bring the family for a solar viewing or nighttime star party at Robert Ferguson Observatory in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park.
Solar viewing is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Specially filtered telescopes allow safe observation of the sun. Free with park admission fee or park pass.
At 8 p.m. that evening, the observatory’s three main telescopes plus additional telescopes will be available for use. There will be ongoing presentations on astronomical topics in the classroom. Friendly and knowledgeable docents will be on hand to answer any questions. Admission is $3, anyone under 18 is free. State park admission fee also required.
