Beethoven comes to Oakmont

Thursday May 12th - 1:30pmMusic at Oakmont presents the celebrated Calidore String Quartet on Thursday, May 12, at 1:30 p.m. at the Berger Center in Oakmont. Described as “the epitome of confidence and finesse” (Gramophone Magazine) and “a miracle of unified thought” (La Presse, Montreal), the Calidore has established an international reputation for its informed, polished, and passionate performances. The group is currently serving as artists-in-residence and visiting faculty at Stony Brook University and has recently been appointed to the prestigious roster of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Two for the 2016 through 2019 seasons.
The Quartet has taken grand prizes in virtually all the major U.S. chamber music contests, and performs regularly throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
The Calidore Quartet’s program on May 12 will include three Beethoven quartets: Op. 18 no. 3, Op. 74, and Op. 132, one each from the great composer’s early, middle, and late periods.
