Friday May 27th - 7:00pmFunky Fridays begins a new season at a new venue on May 27, with The Bruthas bringing their super funky soul and R&B for the inaugural show at the Hood House on Pythian Road, a historic landmark recently renovated by Sonoma County Regional Parks.
Offering more parking and space for music lovers, the Hood House property is easily accessible from Pythian Road at Highway 12. The huge popularity the event gained at Sugarloaf State Park ultimately brought about the move to the more spacious grounds at the county complex across from Oakmont.
People can bring their own food, drink and coolers as before, but organizers Linda Pavlak and Bill Meyers hope customers will enjoy the food, beer and wine available at the events so much they donít need to carry a lot of stuff to the concerts. TIPS Tri-Tip Trolley will be on hand, along with a bicycle ice cream vendor, and even a chocolate vendor.
There will be 15 concerts held over the summer, running from 7 to 9 p.m., but people usually arrive up to an hour early to enjoy picnicking and social time on the lawn before the show. The event is definitely geared for everyone Ė families and singles and anyone who loves good music.
Ticket prices remain the same as they were at Sugarloaf: adults are $10, and kids (18 and under) are admitted free of charge. Parking is $10 per vehicle or free with a Regional Parks pass. Advance ticket sales are available online at www.funkyfridays.info.
Hood House is in the county complex at Pythian Road. Turn toward Hood Mountain on Pythian Road and follow the signs to the parking lots.
