First Day hike at Jack London
Jack London State Park
Monday January 1st - 10:00amWelcome the new year with gratitude during the 2018 First Day Gratitude Hike at Jack London State Park on Jan. 1. During the hike, participants will have the opportunity to voice their appreciation to the emergency responders who fought valiantly to save lives and homes during the horrific Sonoma, Napa and Lake County wildfires.
The hike starts at 10 a.m., with two route options. The first will be the annual hike to the summit of the park and back, for a moderately strenuous round trip of eight miles. Hikers will have the option to continue past the summit over Sonoma Mountain into the North Sonoma Mountain Regional Park, for a 10-mile, strenuous hike. Hikes are guided, but those choosing the 10-mile route must arrange a carpool back from Sonoma Mountain Regional Park.
Admission is $10 or free for those with Sonoma County Regional Park, State Park and Jack London Park passes. First Responders and their families are invited to the hike for free. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes, bring water, lunch, binoculars and hiking poles if you have them.
