Fire hike with naturalist in Trione-Annadel State Park Trione-Annadel State Park

Saturday May 5th - 9:00am

On May 5, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m., explore the succession of plants and flowers after a wildfire. The October 2017 Nuns Fire burned 63 percent of Trione-Annadel State Park. Some areas experienced a high-severity burn, while other areas experienced a low-intensity ground-clearing burn. Volunteer interpretive naturalist John Lynch will lead hikers along 8 miles of trails in the burned areas to discuss what is growing and blooming now as a result of wildfire, and what’s different. Lynch will also cover how Native Americans used fire as a land management tool.

The hike starts and finishes at the Warren Richardson Trail parking lot. This will be a slow-paced hike the first half, with an option for quicker pace the second half. Wear hiking shoes and layers appropriate for weather; bring lunch and water. Heavy rain cancels.

There is a day-use fee of $7 per car ($6 for seniors), paid at the stop sign on Channel Drive. No advance reservations needed. Dogs not allowed. See the Trione-Annadel State Park website for more details,, click “Park Events.”
