All about DNA tests at SIR 92 meeting
Oakmont Berger Center
Tuesday May 8th - 11:00amThe speaker for the May 8 SIR Branch 92 meeting is Dr. George McKinney who will give a talk on “Understanding Yourself by Having a DNA Test.”
In the last year, over four million people have had their DNA tested. Are you Irish, Italian or Native American? Are you adopted and looking for your biological family? What medical conditions might you have inherited? What are your family’s traits? McKinney’s presentation will describe how the testing is possible, the type of testing that is done, what companies do these tests, and what typical results are.
SIR 92 is a local chapter of Sons in Retirement that meets monthly at the Berger Center. Social hour begins at 11 a.m. with no-host bar, followed by luncheon with three choices of entrée, salad and dessert. Each month features an interesting speaker on a variety of topics. All interested new members are welcome.
The club also hosts an annual Ladies Day for spouses and partners, as well as an annual Christmas Party. Throughout the year there are outings to local Bay Area points of interest such as wineries and concerts.
