Oakmont Sunday Symposium Oakmont Berger Center

The Oakmont Sunday Symposium provides a forum for speakers on diverse topics such as science, history, politics, culture and current events. Attendance is intended for Oakmont residents and their invited guests. Symposiums take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the East Recreation Center. There is a $3 suggested donation. b>May 6 – “Sonoma State Today and into the Future,” by Deborah Roberts

Dr. Deborah Roberts, associate vice president for Faculty Affairs at Sonoma State University will discuss the recent updates to leadership, vision and mission of SSU, its unique programs and community opportunities, strategic planning, the Green Music Center, alumni relationships, and campus activities.

Roberts has a long history in academia, working and teaching at CSU Chico, Shasta Community College, CSU Dominguez Hills, Humboldt State and Sonoma State, serving on dozens of faculty hiring and tenure committees, among other things. As associate vice president for Faculty Affairs, Roberts has focused her energy on creating a welcoming and enriching environment for faculty and chairs. Her efforts on recruitment and hiring of tenure track faculty have yielded a dedication to creating a rich and diverse atmosphere to better serve the students who choose Sonoma State University.
