Saturday June 30th - 10:00amTake a walk through Quarryhill Botanical Garden with Bay Area butterfly expert Dr. Don Mahoney on Saturday, June 30, 10-11 a.m. Mahoney will help butterfly enthusiasts identify the many butterflies that flutter throughout Quarryhill. Among the butterflies walkers may spot are pipevine swallowtail, painted lady, red admiral, buckeye, skipper, tiger swallowtail, and West Coast lady.
The walk will be leisurely with some uphill; wear good walking shoes, and bring binoculars, if you have them, and water.
Mahoney is the curator at San Francisco Botanical Garden, and president of The Hallberg Butterfly Gardens in Sebastopol. He holds a Ph.D. from U.C. Berkeley in Wildland Resource Science.
