Ecology Center offers Creek Camp at Sugarloaf
Sugarloaf State Park
Monday July 9th -Kids ages 8-12 can traverse the headwaters of the Sonoma Creek Watershed in a recreational and environmental education camp run by the Sonoma Ecology Center, July 9-13 at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park. Campers will spend the week as junior scientists, starting off the day with morning hikes on the trails. As the day warms, campers will explore the creeks for insects and amphibians, and will cap each day off with visits from local naturalists. Activities include investigating the properties of water, collecting and studying aquatic insects, and learning about the wildlife and plants found in the park. Visits from wildlife centers, bird watchers, and astronomers will be included throughout the week. Camp hours, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., also consist of plenty of games, arts and crafts, and storytelling.
Cost is $260 for SEC members, $300 for non-members. To find out more, or to sign up for any programs, go to www.sonomaecologycenter.org.
