Oakmont Lifelong Learning Class Preview Day
Oakmont Berger Center
Monday August 27th -In the four months since Sonoma State University severed ties with Oakmont, the Board of Directors of Oakmont Lifelong Learning (OLL) has achieved some remarkable things. Now registered as a California not-for-profit corporation, Oakmont Lifelong Learning Inc. is positioning itself to fulfill a mission statement with a far broader scope than before.
Also in July, Lifelong Learning entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) to provide classes with vetted instructors on a wide variety of topics, exclusively for Oakmont.
Starting in September, OLL will be offering a new mix of classes and workshops focusing on what Oakmont residents have told OLL that they want. Future plans include a lecture series, potential co-sponsorships with Oakmont Clubs, field trips and access to other SRJC arts and music series.
In addition to the SRJC classes, OLL will continue to offer concerts and special lectures including Kasey Knudsen Jazz Sextet on Sept. 13, More Joy on Sept. 22, and a lecture by Dr. David McCuan on post-election results on Nov. 13.
A Class Preview day will be held on Aug. 27 at 3 p.m. at the Berger Center. At the preview, residents can meet with SRJC professors and learn more about the fall class lineup. Fall SRJC community education classes at the Berger Center begin the week of Sept. 17,
