McGuire and Harder at Oakmont Dem meeting
Oakmont Berger Center
Friday September 7th - 6:30pmOn Sept. 7, 6:30 to 9 p.m., at the Berger Center, a Red to Blue Oakmont Democratic Club event will support congressional candidate Josh Harder, who is hoping to flip the Modesto/Tracy Congressional seat held by Republican Jeff Denham. State Senator Mike McGuire and candidate Harder have been invited to speak. Both are fiery advocates for protecting health care and social security benefits for the elderly, which are currently threatened.
Congressional District 10 is an important focus, as it is rated a toss-up by most experts. Hillary Clinton narrowly won the District in 2016, while incumbent Denham squeaked out a narrow win. Rep. Denham is a strong supporter of Donald Trump.
Harder grew up in Turlock. After graduating from Modesto Public High School, he earned a scholarship from the local Rotary and American Legion to attend Stanford. After graduation and working several years in Boston, he volunteered to work organizing small farmers in Kenya and Uganda while working with the Gates Foundation and other nonprofits. Now, Harder teaches business at Modesto Junior College where he is passing on the lessons he’s learned to the next generation.
The evening will include hors d’oeuvres, sweets and refreshments. A $20 contribution is requested at the door. The event will also include an auction. All proceeds from the evening will be given to the Harder campaign.
All are welcome. For more information contact Tom Amato at firstname.lastname@example.org.
