Wildfire trauma relief concert at Hanna

Hanna Boys Center

Saturday March 10th 2018 - 4:00pm to

Nationally renowned pianist Richard Glazier, best known for his work on PBS, will present his show, Our Love is Here to Stay: The Music of George and Ira Gershwin, on Saturday, March 10, at the Hanna Auditorium on the campus of Hanna Boys Center in Sonoma.

The event, a wildfire trauma relief concert, will raise funds to support four local nonprofit organizations leading education and wildfire trauma recovery and resiliency projects for children in the Sonoma Valley region.

All of the proceeds from ticket sales, and a $100,000 matching grant offered by Gary and Marcia Nelson, will go directly to Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance, Boys & Girls Club, Hanna Institute and Sonoma Charter School.

“When I realized the extent of the trauma affecting our students and families as a result of the October fires, we wanted to put together something that would help the families and the nonprofits supporting them,” said Gary Nelson.

Glazier will present three performances, weaving historical video footage, piano performance and personal commentary, to highlight the history of the music written by the Gershwin brothers for Broadway musicals, Hollywood films and television. The first performance will be a 45-minute specially-priced concert for families, kids, mentees and mentors, starting at 1 p.m., with post-concert snacks at 1:45 p.m. This will be followed by two evening performances at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. for adults, along with a VIP champagne reception.

Tickets are $75 for general admission and $125 for the show and VIP champagne reception with Richard Glazier. The 1 p.m. special children’s performance will be offered for a $1 donation. Tickets and additional details are available at www.gershwinforgood.org.
