SIR #53 hears about childrenís center activities

Meg Easter-Dawson, program development manager at Valley of the Moon Childrenís Center (VMCC), will outline the centerís activities at the Aug. 16 luncheon of Sons in Retirement #53 at Oakmontís Berger Center.

In the job since 2006, she manages community involvement in VMCC, located on Pythian Road, including working closely with the Valley of the Moon Childrenís Foundation, a private nonprofit that works in partnership with the County of Sonoma to support children and youth.

In 2011, Easter-Dawson developed an onsite dental clinic to serve children in emergency foster care. Recently she has taken on responsibility for overseeing the foster care recruitment and support program for the County. From 1997-2005, she was coordinator of the Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis Office of Neighborhood Resources. She has a bachelorís degree in sociology from University of Wisconsin-Madison and a masterís in social work from Indiana University.

SIR Branch #53 meets on the third Thursday of each month in Oakmontís Berger Center, 6633 Oakmont Dr. A social hour starts at 11 a.m. with luncheon at noon, catered by A La Heart Catering. Any Oakmont man interested in attending this presentation and/or membership should contact Dave McCuan at 539-3028. Ladies are welcome at 1 p.m. to hear the speaker.
