Commemorate Jack Londonís death

Jack London State Park

Saturday November 17th 2018 - 10:30am to

This year marks the 102nd anniversary of Jack Londonís death, and Jack London State Historic Park will pay a special tribute to one of the worldís best-known American writers with a memorial at the park on Saturday, Nov. 17.

London died of kidney failure on Nov. 22, 1916. In his short life he accomplished much as a writer of 50 books, and also as an adventurer, reporter, war correspondent, sports writer, and innovative farmer. He was in the process of developing a model ranch, destined to be the finest in California, when he died. London would have wished farming to be his true legacy, far beyond writing. At the memorial, songwriter and vocalist Jeff Falconer will sing a song he wrote in memory of Jack London.

The memorial is open to the public at no charge. Those attending should gather at the House of Happy Walls Museum to start the half-mile walk to the grave site at 10:30 a.m. A golf cart will be available for those who prefer not to walk.

Admission is free but the $10 parking fee does apply.
