Palooza pitches in for fire relief

palooza check
At the Sept. 19 meeting of the Rotary Club of Glen Ellen-Kenwood, Jeff and Suzette Tyler, owners of Palooza Brewery and Gastropub, presented a check for $5,000, to be divided equally between the Rotary Club and the Kenwood Fire Department. Pictured, from left, are Rotary Club President Kathleen Bunte, Suzette Tyler, Jeff Tyler, Kenwood Fire Chief Daren Bellach, and Palooza General Manager Patrick Odenthal. Afterward, Bellach spoke about things we can all do to be prepared for another fire storm. First of all, pay attention to Red Flag warnings, and sign up for Nixel, Cal Fire and SoCo alerts. Among his suggestions, Bellach said that on Red Flag warning nights, when the temperature and wind are high and the humidity is low, families and neighbors should take turns staying up and keeping watch for flames. He also recommended having a battery-operated radio, and even getting a police scanner and setting it to local fire department frequencies. And of course, have a Go-Bag packed and ready.
