Cobb newest Kenwood School trustee
Oakmont resident is a retired educator
The Kenwood School District announced that Jay Cobb, a resident of Oakmont, has been appointed to serve a four-year term as one of five trustees to oversee the school district. Cobb replaces Gordon Holmes, who served eight years on the board, prior to concluding his second term in November, 2008. Since no other member of the community filed election papers, the board of trustees requested volunteers following the filing deadline in August. Cobb came forward to offer his services in late August. His four-year term began on Dec. 11, 2008.
Cobb, a retired educator, brings a wealth of experience and talents to the Kenwood School Board. He served for over 30 years in the Pacific Grove Unified School District as a teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. He was also a founding member of the PG Pride group, which served as an educational foundation to raise needed funds for the students in the Pacific Grove Unified School District.
Jay and his wife, Anne, are active members of the Oakmont community, supporting a variety of local groups and organizations. Jay is a member of SIRs, past president of the Kiwanis Club, and a former member of the Kenwood Education Foundation. He has also served on the Kenwood School District’s Strategic Planning Advisory Committee.
Superintendent Bob Bales commented, “Jay Cobb will be a tremendous asset to the Kenwood School District Board of Trustees. He is truly a life-long learner, who is able to work successfully with a variety of individuals in a calm, collaborative manner. We are all honored to have Jay’s expertise and personal warmth as we work together to provide the best possible educational experience for all of the children in the Kenwood School District.”
