Wildwood celebrates fantasy insects and fall color

Join the Monte family at Wildwood Farm Nursery & Sculpture Garden in experiencing the glories of nature, and indulge in creative fantasies with the larger than life sculptures by featured artist David Mudgett.

A multitude of enormous welded spiders crawl among brightly colored foliage in the garden gallery. These awesome arachnids range in size from 12 by 12 inches to 3.5 feet high, with legs stretching out nine feet in length.

On Oct. 18, 1-4 p.m., you can meet metal artist David Mudgett, who started his own metal fabrication business in 1986. He later applied his gift for metalwork to sculpture, which he now does full-time. His sculptures will be at Wildwood through December.

After visiting with David, enjoy the vibrant colors of fall at Wildwood, gardens planted with mature Japanese maples, dogwoods, katsura and smoke trees. At this time of year, their foliage glows with shades of gold, orange and crimson.

Wildwood's fall hours are Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 833-1161 for more information, or go to www.wildwoodmaples.com. Wildwood Farm is located at 10300 Sonoma Hwy. in Kenwood.
