George Ellman dies
Long-time Glen Ellen resident George Ellman passed away on Sept. 27, following a bout with pneumonia. As of press time we have very little information to provide, but can say that George was a tremendous asset to our communities here in the North Valley as well as to the county and state he loved so much. George was a founding member of the Valley of the Moon Alliance, serving on the board until last year. He was a member of the Glen Ellen Historical Society, a board member of the National Audubon Society, a member of the SMART board (Sonoma/Marin rail transit), chair of the Sonoma Mountain Preservation Group, a member of the board for the Sonoma Developmental Center (where he worked for a number of years) and many other causes he believed in and tirelessly supported. George was preceded in death by Phyllis, his beloved wife of 60 years, earlier this year. We will have more on the life of this remarkable man in our next issue. |
