The following are some of the recent calls from the Glen Ellen and Kenwood area to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Sonoma Valley Substation.

Aug. 11


A resident of the 13300 block of Highway 12 who reported the theft of two Bear crossbows and seven bolts four weeks ago, reported an additional theft. An REI internal frame backpack valued at $150 was stolen from an ungated side yard. The crossbows were valued at $450 and the bolts at $100. A report was taken.

Aug. 12

Deputies responded to three related calls involving a disturbance on Gibson St. in Glen Ellen. It turned out to be an ongoing civil dispute between roommates. One was planning to move out that weekend.

Aug. 12

A resident of Nelligan Rd. reported that on Aug. 10 he went to get the newspaper from his S.F. Chronicle box. When his wife came home an hour later, someone had taken two of the boxes off the post. Estimated value: $100.

Aug. 13

A resident called about a suspicious vehicle in the 200 block of Griswold that was parked at the end of the street with a sunshade in the window and someone sleeping in it. Deputies contacted a woman in a white Volvo station wagon who said she would be gone in the morning.

Aug. 14

Deputies responded to a disturbance report on Greene St. at Sonoma Highway, at the gas station. There were many cars out front. Deputies arrived and broke up the group.

Aug. 15

A resident near Highway 12 and Lawndale Road who was cleaning up after an event had a verbal confrontation with the driver of a red 1980s vehicle, who was parked with his headlights aimed at the residence. The vehicle was gone by the time deputies arrived, but was found later on the northeast side of Highway 12 between Lawndale and Fry Roads. Both doors were open and the occupant was outside with his pants down. No arrest was made.

Someone reported that a dog was under the deck at the Bluegrass Bar & Grill Restaurant in Glen Ellen. The matter was referred to Animal Control.

Aug. 16

A resident of Los Guilicos Ave. called to report that someone was fraudulently attempting to use a credit card.

Aug. 17

A car stereo was stolen from a vehicle that was parked at Sonoma Highway and Madrone Ave. Estimated value: $200.

Aug. 18

The manager of the Glen Ellen Manor apartments called to report an incident of vandalism. Someone had drawn some sexually explicit pictures, but since they were made with chalk, there technically was no crime.

Deputies checked out a suspicious vehicle at Warm Springs Rd. and Sonoma Mountain Rd. A woman was identified and released.

Someone flagged down a deputy in the area of Sonoma Highway and Madrone Rd. and reported a suspicious vehicle in the vineyard. The deputy located two Penske rental trucks. The trucks had not been reported stolen, but they were overdue to be returned.

Aug. 19

A resident of Robertson Rd. called at 11:22 p.m. to report a strange car and a suspicious person who had walked up to a neighbor’s porch. Deputies went out to the home, identified the person, and let him go.

Aug. 20

A suspicious vehicle was reported in front of the Glen Ellen Post Office at 12:15 a.m. Deputies contacted a woman and released her.

Deputies were dispatched to the 15000 block of Marty drive regarding a civil dispute over a receipt involving a car.

Aug. 21

Deputies went out to the 15000 block of Marty Dr. for a call about a large party and a number of intoxicated people outside. Deputies contacted the partiers and determined that no one was drunk.

A neighbor in the 2500 of Warm Springs Rd. called to complain about a loud party at a nearby residence. Deputies went out, and spoke to a groom who said he would turn down the music.

Aug. 22

An employee at Kunde Estate Winery called to report spotting an otter in the area. The matter was referred to Animal Control.

Aug. 23

Deputies got a call around 9 a.m. involving a violation of a domestic violence court order in the 3000 block of Warm Springs Rd. As a result of a statement by the victim, a 55-year-old woman was arrested in Santa Rosa.

A resident in the 11000 block of Dunbar Rd. reported that a stranger was outside the house. Then the reporting party saw two people running across the property. Deputies were unable to locate anybody.
