Laura Hinerfeld and Dale Geist had lots to celebrate on Aug. 21 at their Kenwood home, the site of their 5th annual Cur-ville Dog Days music fest. The first was Dale's 50th birthday. The second was the one-month birthday of their son Guthrie Martin Frederick Geist. Guthrie was born on July 22, and joins his big brother Amos Henry, age 3, on the Geist Rockin' Heart Ranchito. According to Dad, Guthrie was born at 10:50 a.m. at Sutter Hospital, weighing 7 lbs. 13 oz., and he bats left, throws left, and plays bass. And third, Laura and Dale were married three years ago at their 2nd annual Cur-ville musical extravaganza. So congratulations to the whole Geist family!

If you drove by Kenwood School on Aug. 26 you would have seen this announcement on the sign out front - “Happy 50th Birthday Alec Peters!” That would be our fearless editor, who was surprised by school Superintendent/Principal Bob Bales. Good work, Bob!

Patti Geib sent this in too late for the photo contest, but it's still nice to see our former Fire Chief Ed Geib enjoying his retirement and living the good life at Konocti Bay. He's shown here with granddaughter Catie Gieb and her friends Samantha Bohlke-Slater, and Briana Hayward, who were tubing on the lake.

The Sonoma County Fair produced a number of local winners, one of which was Elizabeth Caughey and her Americana hen. Elizabeth won second place for showmanship in her first 4-H competition. Doing well in showmanship takes lots of practice, so congratulations, Elizabeth!

The 22nd Annual Easter Seals Northern California Golf Classic took place at the Oakmont Golf Club on July 30, and it was a big success. Dawn Carlson, the Development Officer for Easter Seals, reported that they had 92 golfers who were joined by even more people for the awards dinner afterwards. The tournament was sponsored and produced by Greg Cornelius (Easter Seals Board Member) and Century 21 North Bay Alliance. A highlight of the dinner was entertainment by Tommy Smothers. Sierra Munshaw spoke about her personal experience for her son Elijah who has Spina Bifida and who participated in Easter Seals' Early Intervention Programs. Later, the awards and trophies were distributed to the game winners, and auction and raffle prizes were awarded. Special thanks goes to Oakmont Golf Club's Tina Williams for all her assistance.

That's it for now. Always remember, if you have an item for Village Chat, you can email ann@kenwoodpress.com, or call 833-5155 and chat me up! - AQP
