Chamber Music series begins

September is an important month for the Kenwood Community Club and its landmark Depot as we begin the inaugural season of our Fall/Winter Chamber Music Series. These Sunday afternoon concerts will present world class classical music performances in the setting of our own iconic and acoustically endowed Depot. The concerts are, of course, open to the public and will become what we hope to be an important new venue for classical music in this area, while enhancing the already rich cultural landscape of our community.

On Sunday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m., the kick off concert will feature the internationally known Copeland Creek Brass. This superb ensemble has performed worldwide and is comprised of faculty members from Sonoma State University under the direction of Brian Wilson. They will present a program that is varied and sure to delight all listeners with music ranging from the Fanfare from “Orpheo” to the sounds of a New Orleans brass band with “That’s a Plenty,” with stops along the way for the “Toreador Song” and a Broadway medley. Surely a concert not to be missed.

Other concerts in the series include:

The Meltemi Winds, Oct. 25

The Sonoma Strings, Nov. 22

The Alphabet Baroque Ensemble, Jan. 3

Valentine Jazz, Feb. 14

This series of concerts will be presented in the quaint and delightful setting our refurbished and unique Depot with refreshments served during intermission. Tickets for the concerts can be purchased at the door for $25 or in advance for $20 at the office of the Kenwood Press, or online at kenwooddepot.com. As always, the proceeds from these concerts are for the benefit of the Kenwood Community Club and its Depot for the overall purpose of enhancing the quality of cultural life in our fair village.

Further details and ticket information can be viewed at the KCC website, kenwooddepot.com.
