Five Star Yachts in Sausalito was the venue for the KCC’s first-ever Foundation Member Appreciation Cruise on Sept. 13. The cruise itself was a donation from a KCC board member.
On a perfect Sunday afternoon, Sept. 13, the Kenwood Community Club (KCC) held what we hope will become a yearly event: the first annual Foundation Member Appreciation Cruise. The event was held to thank our Foundation Members, each of whom is a major donor supporting the activities of the KCC and the Depot. The cruise itself was a donation to the KCC by the successful bidder at Kenwood School’s “Lights Camera Auction” last May. It was an immense success with superb wine supplied by VJB Vineyards and fabulous food provided by Kenwood’s own Palooza Gastropub.

The first concert in the new Chamber Music Series took place on Sept. 27, featuring the Copeland Creek Brass, who took listeners on a musical journey from the Renaissance to the classics, to Broadway, jazz, and world music. This series of musical presentations will extend through spring of next year. Mark your calendar for Oct. 25 when the Meltemi Winds perform in our acoustically superb Depot, and visit our redesigned website, kenwooddepot.com, to see the complete concert schedule and to order tickets online.

Another noteworthy community organization, Wildlife Fawn Rescue (WFR), will be making an informational presentation at the Depot on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. All of us living in this area know and appreciate the work of WFR, and the KCC encourages all those interested to attend this event and learn more about this organization. The work of WFR is renowned in the area, and their selfless dedication to the protection of wildlife deserves community-wide support.

In addition to a not-to-be-missed concert by the Sonoma Strings on Sunday, Nov. 22, the entire community will absolutely want to set aside Saturday, Dec. 5, for our annual Christmas Potluck, which we expect to be a reprise of last year’s gala.

New to this column is the wonderful illustration of the Depot by local Kenwood historian and artist Dee Sand. Dee’s detailed history of Kenwood and her charming, illustrated poster, which hangs in a prominent spot on a wall at the Depot, are the sine qua non for an appreciation of the local history, including the particulars of our historic train depot. The KCC thanks Dee for her generosity in allowing the use of this drawing.

Further details about KCC sponsored events and ticket information for the concerts can be viewed at kenwooddepot.com.
