Rate and fee study commences for groundwater basins
All three of Sonoma County’s Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSAs) selected Raftelis Financial Consultants, a national consulting firm specializing in water utilities, to conduct a study regarding the funding of the GSAs. Representatives from Raftelis made presentations to the GSA Advisory Committees during their second meetings, and will present to the GSA Boards at the March and April 2018 meetings. If you are concerned about the financial aspect of Sustainable Groundwater Management Act implementation, or would simply like to learn about the fee and rate structures that may be used to fund the GSAs, please come to your basin’s GSA board meeting in March or April to hear directly from Raftelis about the work they will be doing in the next year.
In addition to the opportunity to learn about the rate and fee study at board meetings, there will be public workshops and public hearings in the spring which will provide opportunities for the community to be engaged in this process.
The Sonoma Valley GSA holds its next meeting on Jan. 22, 4 p.m., in the Valley of the Moon Water District board room.
