Park gets new ADA compliant parking and pathway

Jack London State Historic Park has new ADA compliant parking spaces and pathway to Beauty Ranch thanks to some extremely generous donations from local companies. Serres Corporation organized and provided all of the labor involved with resurfacing the asphalt parking lot spaces to bring them to the correct slope, while Cal West Rentals donated the use of an asphalt grinder. Bodean Company donated the asphalt itself bringing the ADA pathway project to completion.

The project began in the Spring of 2017 when Jack London Park Partners, with the help of Sonoma County Trails Council and park volunteers, installed an ADA wheelchair accessible pathway from the Beauty Ranch parking lot to the Historic Winery Ruins at Jack London State Historic Park. This pathway allows those park visitors with accessibility needs better access to Beauty Ranch, Jack London’s home and farm while he lived on Sonoma Mountain. At approximately 1,000 feet long, this pathway leads through the oak trees and eucalyptus groves, to picnic areas and the beauty ranch meadow, finally ending at the Historic Winery Ruins where people can admire the old winery remnants, book the site for a wedding, or enjoy a performance from Transcendence Theatre Company’s Broadway Under the Stars.

When Jack London Park was threatened with closure by the State in 2012, Jack London Park Partners (JLPP) entered into an operating agreement with the State of California to manage the park and prevent its closure. JLPP receives no funds from State Parks to subsidize the management and operation of the park and depends entirely on private donations to execute programming, maintain the grounds, and administer operations.
