As part of its 50th Anniversary Celebration, Point Reyes National Seashore will be holding a program, “Sir Francis Drake and the Astronomy of the Northern Hemisphere on Friday, Oct. 19, at Robert Ferguson Observatory at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park in Kenwood.

Ever wonder how Sir Francis Drake was able to navigate the world with only the sun and the stars to guide him? Come to this fascinating presentation on the navigation techniques of Drake and stay for use of the observatory’s three powerful telescopes. Look through the lenses and identify constellations and make deep space observations Drake could never dream of.

This event is free to all. Youth 10-17 welcome with parent.
