Solar and night sky viewing

Robert Ferguson Observatory

Saturday September 7th 2013 - 12:00pm to 12:00pm

There will be solar and night sky viewing on Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Robert Ferguson Observatory in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park.

Solar telescopes will be set up from noon to 4 p.m. so that you can safely look at and listen to our favorite star, the Sun. Admission to solar viewing is free, but there is a parking fee of $8 per car.

Night sky viewing begins at 9 p.m. Please arrive before 11 p.m. The observatory’s three main telescopes plus many additional telescopes will be set up for viewing. Ongoing presentations on astronomical topics will be given in the classroom, and friendly and knowledgeable docents will be available to answer your questions.

Admission to the nighttime Star Party is $3 per adult, under 18 free. For more information, visit rfo.org or Facebook. Sugarloaf is located at the end of Adobe Canyon Road in Kenwood.
