Solar viewing and public star party

Robert Ferguson Observatory

Saturday February 22nd 2014 - 11:00am to

Not everyone lives in a community with a fantastic observatory in their back yard, but there’s one right in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park: the Robert Ferguson Observatory.

On Saturday, Feb. 22, there will be a solar viewing and a Public Star Party.

The solar viewing takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m..

Solar telescopes are set up so you can safely look at and listen to everyone’s favorite star, the Sun. Admission to the solar viewing at the observatory is free. Sugarloaf parking is $8 per car.

The Public Star Party starts at 6 p.m. Please arrive before 10 p.m. The observatory’s three main telescopes plus many additional telescopes are open for viewing. Ongoing presentations on astronomical topics are given in the classroom. Friendly and knowledgeable docents are available to answer your questions.

Admission to the Star Party is $3 per adult (18 and older), and those under 18 are free. Sugarloaf Parking is $8 per car.
