Solar viewing and public star party

Robert Ferguson Observatory

Saturday May 10th 2014 - to

Saturday, May 10, is National Astronomy Day, so why not celebrate by visiting our very own observatory in Kenwood?

On May 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Robert Ferguson Observatory in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park will have solar telescopes set up for solar viewing so you can safely look at, and listen to, the Sun. Solar viewing is free.

At 9 p.m., the observatory will host a Public Star Party. The observatory’s three main telescopes will be open and many smaller telescopes will be set up in the parking lot. Presentations run in the classroom and friendly, knowledgeable docents are available to answer your questions. Please try to arrive by 11 p.m. to make sure it stays open for you. Admission is $3 for adults over 18 and children under 18 are free. Parking at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park is $8.

The observatory is located at 2605 Adobe Canyon Road in Kenwood.
