Medicinal herbalists coming to Quarryhill

Peggy Schafer of the Chinese Medicinal Herb Farm, author and leader in the field of medicinal herb cultivation, along with Sondra Beam, herbalist at Crane West Herb Pharmacy, will lead a walk at Quarryhill Botanical Garden on Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon, highlighting the many medicinal plants located throughout the property.

Schafer is a long-time herb grower and teacher in West Sonoma County, who published a one-of-a-kind cultivation guide in 2011 titled The Chinese Medicinal Herb Farm: A Cultivatorís Guide to Small-Scale Organic Herb Production. In her book, Schafer presents invaluable information on how to produce high-quality, efficacious herbs in all climates of the United States, grown and harvested according to classical Chinese tradition.
