Journalist to speak at Newcomers' Club

Quail Inn Restaurant

Tuesday March 10th 2015 - 11:30am to

The Newcomers' Club of Santa Rosa will hold its next luncheon on Tuesday, March 10, 11:30 a.m. at the Quail Inn in Oakmont, with special speaker Maria Goodavage.

In 2012 Goodavage, a former USA Today journalist landed on the national best seller lists with the release of Soldier Dogs: The Untold Story of America's Canine Heroes. This unprecedented exploration into the world of military working dogs and their handlers was filled with gritty details of the lives of canine warriors and examined the ongoing special role that these dogs play in our ever-changing field of combat. This fall, Goodavage is back with another heartwarming and heroic real-life story about one particularly incredible canine in Top Dog: The Story of Marine Hero Lucca. With detailed and captivating reporting, the book is a heart-rending portrayal of the deep bond between dog and handler, with nail-biting scenes of combat. Goodavage has been on the Today Show, Good Morning America, Colbert, and Jon Stewart shows. Bring your friends to hear the rest of the story.

Price is $24 per person. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. To make a reservation, call Ann Free before March 6, at 539-4633, or email aandpfree@comcast.net.
