Native magic wildflower walk

Sonoma Valley Regional Park

Saturday March 2015 - 10:00am to

Discover the spring beauty of Sonoma Valley Regional Park by attending a wildflower walk on Saturday, March 21, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The theme of this walk at the park in Glen Ellen is “native magic.” The hike will mostly follow a paved path through the oak forest. You’ll learn about plants used by Pomo Indians in their rituals and daily life and see colorful flowers. The walk is free and led by volunteer Phil Dean, a Master Gardener who will identify native plants, discuss the drought’s impact on this year’s flowers, and share stories specific to the flora of the park.

Meet in the Sonoma Valley Regional Park parking lot off of Sonoma Highway for a prompt 10 a.m. departure. Parking is $7 or free for Regional Parks members. Hike happens in light rain, but heavy rain cancels.

Sonoma Valley Regional Park is located at 13630 Sonoma Hwy.
