Alzheimer education program in Oakmont

Star of the Valley Catholic Church

Tuesday April 2015 - 10:00am to

Some change in memory is normal as we grow older, but the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease are more than simple lapses in memory. Memory loss that disrupts daily life is not a typical part of aging. It may be a symptom of Alzheimer’s, a brain disease that causes a slow decline in memory, thinking and reasoning skills.

The Alzheimer’s Association and Green Acres Manor residential care home in Kenwood are presenting a program called “Know the 10 signs: Early Detection Matters” on Tuesday, April 21, starting at 10 a.m.

Co-sponsored by Star of the Valley Catholic Church, the program will provide information about the warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease and the importance of identifying those symptoms early. The event is being held at the church’s Monsignor Fahey Parish Hall, 495 White Oak Dr. in Oakmont. The public is welcome.

Registration is required. Please call the Alzheimer’s Association at 573-1210 to reserve a spot. Check-in on April 21 is at 10 a.m., the program is 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and lunch is at 12:30 p.m.
