Earth Day Celebration at Quarryhill Botanical Garden

Quarryhill Botanical Garden

Saturday April 25th 2015 - 11:00am to

Quarryhill Botanical Garden is celebrating Earth Day in a big way. This free event on Saturday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., honors the world and all its beauty, appreciating what Mother Earth provides us and highlighting the many ways we can protect it. All ages are welcome.

Activities include arts and crafts, games, face painting, fava bean planting, fire truck tours, hula hoop and mancala contests, educational displays from 4-H and the Sonoma County Beekeepers’ Association, observation of rare reptiles from Sonoma Reptile Rescue, a Lion Dance performance by the Redwood Empire Chinese Association, music by the Sonoma Hometown Band, books from the Free Bookmobile of Sonoma County, complimentary popcorn (courtesy of Reading Cinemas), tea tasting from The Taste of Tea, art from the Artists’ Round Table, unique flower arrangements from the Russian River Rose Co., and more.

In addition to all of the festivities, don’t miss out on the once-a-year plant sale held during the Earth Day celebration. Quarryhill covers over 25 acres and is home to over 25,000 rare and endangered plants and flowers. This is a unique opportunity to obtain very rare plants at affordable prices. The sale will be open one hour before the start of the Earth Day Celebration (at 10 a.m.) and will continue throughout the day.

Quarryhill Botanical Garden is located at 12841 Sonoma Hwy., Glen Ellen. For more information, go to www.quarryhillbg.org or call 996-3166. Special thanks go to Dirt Farmer and Co. for their sponsorship of this event.
