Wildlife Corridor hike

Sonoma Valley Regional Park

Saturday June 20th 2015 - 9:00am to

On Saturday, June 20, see a beautiful new addition to Sonoma Valley Regional Park on a “Wildlife Corridor” walk led by the Sonoma Land Trust. The Land Trust purchased this 29-acre property on the park’s north side in late 2014 and transferred it to Sonoma Valley Regional Park as a part of a park expansion. The addition is now open for hiking, and this outing will tell us more about the property’s significance to the imperiled Sonoma Valley Wildlife Corridor, which narrows to a pinchpoint between Sonoma Mountain and the Mayacamas Mountain Range. The Land Trust has been engaged in a multi-year project to study and protect the Wildlife Corridor. On this outing, Land Trust Assistant Stewardship Project Manager Jen Stanfield will explain what the Wildlife Corridor is and how this property fits into larger efforts to preserve and manage critical wildlife habitat.

This easy-level walk is free, will last from 9 to 11 a.m., and will cover about 1.5 miles, with lovely views of the Sonoma Valley and beyond. Space is limited, so please sign up in advance at wildlifecorridor.brownpapertickets.com. Parking is $7 or free for Regional Parks members.
