Celebrate Earth Day at Quarryhill Botanical Garden
Saturday April 16th 2016 -
Quarryhill Botanical Garden is celebrating Earth Day on Saturday, April 16, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The event honors the world and all its beauty, appreciating what Mother Earth provides us and highlighting the many ways we can protect it.
Last year, hundreds of Sonoma County families attended the Earth Day Celebration at Quarryhill, and this year they anticipate even more, given the variety of family fun activities and unique experiences to be enjoyed, including:
Arts and crafts, games, face painting, mini kayak rides by Clavey Paddlesports, educational displays from Jack London and Sugarloaf Parks, presentation by Sonoma County Beekeepers’ Association, live animals from 4-H, birds of prey from the Bird Rescue Center, fava bean planting, olive tasting by Don’s Olives, lion dance by the Redwood Empire Chinese Association, performance by the Sonoma Conservatory of Dance, music by the Sonoma Hometown Band, books from the Free Bookmobile of Sonoma County, complimentary popcorn courtesy of Reading Cinemas, art from the Artists’ Round Table, and much more!
In addition to all of the festivities, don’t miss out on the once-a-year-only plant sale held during the Earth Day celebration – a unique opportunity to obtain very rare plants at affordable prices.
This is a family event; all ages are welcome. Admission is free but to encourage carpooling, a parking fee of $5 per car, cash only, will be collected.
Quarryhill Botanical Garden is located at 12841 Sonoma Hwy., Glen Ellen. For more information, visit www.quarryhillbg.org or call 996-3166.
