Plowing Play Day at Jack London Park

Jack London State Park

Sunday May 22nd 2016 - 10:00am to

The North Coast Draft Horse and Mule Association presents the 33rd annual Plowing Play Day on Sunday, May 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Jack London State Historic Park, featuring historic farming practices that include plowing and mowing demonstrations, as well as free wagon rides around the historic ranch buildings. Enjoy learning about mules along with Clydesdale, Percheron, Shire, and Belgian draft horses.

Demonstrations include blacksmithing, horseshoeing, sheep shearing, early day gas engines and more. Travel back in time and experience real live horsepower at the Beauty Ranch, home of famous author Jack London, who also raised English Shire draft horses.

The park entry fee of $10 per vehicle includes all activities. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

The North Coast Draft Horse and Mule Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to these gentle giants and preserving the art of driving a team. For more information, call 938-5216. For information about Jack London State Historic Park, visit www.jacklondonpark.com.
