Meals on Wheels’ Derby Day

Chateau St. Jean Winery

Saturday May 6th 2017 - to

Council on Aging’s annual Derby Day event is coming up on May 6, 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Chateau St. Jean Winery in Kenwood. For the first time ever, Council on Aging has opened up bidding to the public for its Meals on Wheels Derby Day live auction in advance of the event.

Among the live auction items are a full ceremony package (for a wedding, vow renewal or other special occasion), a classic 1979 Mercedes 450SLC, a guided backpacking trip through the High Sierras, a year-long winemaking experience, and a one-week stay for six at a Mexican Riviera dream home.

Bidders can view all the auction item descriptions at www.coaderbyday.com/auction-program. Placing a bid requires a simple registration, after which the bidder will be sent a number by email.

Online bidding for live auction items will end on Thursday, May 4. The top bids for each item received at that point will be used as the starting bid during the live auction at the event. Online bidders will have a proxy to represent him or her at Derby Day to continue the bidding process until the bidder’s authorized maximum is reached.

For those who prefer the blood-pumping thrill of in-person bidding, tickets are still on sale for the gala event, which celebrates the food, fashion and fun of the Kentucky Derby, and benefits Council on Aging’s Meals on Wheels program for home-bound seniors.

Derby Day includes a four-course lunch by some of Sonoma County’s most noted chefs, and a viewing of the Kentucky Derby live-streamed on a large screen.

All guests are invited to come dressed in their brightest, most festive Derby Day attire. Judges will award prizes for the best-dressed, most authentic era outfits, and best Derby hat.

Tickets are $250 per person or $2,500 for a table of 10. For more details, go to www.COADerbyDay.com.
