Robert Ferguson Observatory

Monday August 21st 2017 - to

The big news is the solar eclipse on Monday, Aug. 21, and you can join others for this event at the observatory. In this area, the eclipse begins at 9:01 a.m. and ends at 11:37 a.m. This will be an 82 percent partial eclipse with the maximum coverage of the sun at 10:15 a.m. WARNING – only use approved safe viewing methods to observe the eclipse to avoid eye damage or blindness. This event is free.

If you’d like more information about the upcoming eclipse, the National Science Teachers Association (nsta.org) has put together a free 2017 Solar Eclipse Observing Guide. Download it at www.nsta.org/publications/press/extras/solarscience.aspx.
