Quarryhill is open; wreath workshop Nov. 18

Saturday November 18th 2017 - 10:00am to

Quarryhill Botanical Garden, which miraculously escaped major damage from the fires, reopened to the public on Oct. 28. General garden admission will be waived through Dec. 31 and docent-led tour prices will be reduced by 20 percent. Quarryhill President and Executive Director Bill McNamara emphasized, “We want to share our tranquil garden with those who need a place to go for a peaceful, pastoral experience as the community unites to rebuild our beloved Valley of the Moon. Our hope is the garden will serve as a place for healing and refuge.”

All visitors need to check in at the Visitor Center before entering the garden. The gift shop will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Wreath making workshop

Succulents make great year-round wreaths, adapting well when grown in moss and continuing to grow for many months, or much longer with good care. Master Gardener Kim Pearson will lead a wreath making workshop at Quarryhill on Saturday, Nov. 18, 10 a.m. to noon.

In this hands-on class, Pearson will teach you how to make a 14-inch wreath to display on your front door, just in time for the holidays.

Pearson has been a landscape designer and consultant for more than 20 years. She is a Master Gardener volunteer and has designed the Master Gardener county fair demonstration garden for the past four years, focusing on sustainable education for home gardeners. She has been a Garden Sense consultant, taught water conservation to home gardeners, and given presentations on sustainable gardening throughout the North Bay.

All materials are provided. Cost is $40. Space is limited. For more information and to sign up, go to www.quarryhillbg.org/page135.html.

The 25-acre Quarryhill Botanical Garden is located at 12841 Sonoma Hwy. in Glen Ellen. For general questions, call 996-3166 or go to www.quarryhillbg.org.
