Fire Fundraising Hike for park

Jack London State Park

Saturday January 2018 - 10:00am to

Jack London Historic State Park, in partnership with the local events team at Mountain Travel Sobek, will host a fundraising hike on Jan. 27 to help fund a fuel reduction and defensible space program to mitigate extreme fire dangers on Sonoma Mountain and Jack London Park. This is the perfect opportunity lend support for Sonoma Mountain and Jack London Park, and a great way to meet like-minded hikers and find rejuvenation in the great outdoors.

The group will meet at 10 a.m. at the Ranch parking lot. The first part of the hike to the lake will be about one mile. Those who’d like to go further can opt to continue on for a more strenuous route from the lake to the top of Sonoma Mountain (about 8 miles with a total elevation gain of 1,700 feet) for beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Wear sturdy shoes, bring plenty of water, and a lunch if you would like to eat at a scenic stop on the mountain. Hike leaders will bring some trail snacks and fruit. Expect the longer hike to last until 2 p.m. Hike donation is $25 per person, which includes parking fee. Sign up at jacklondonpark.com/firefundhike.html.

If you have questions, contact John Baston at Mountain Travel Sobek at johnb@mtsobek.com. Jack London State Park is located at 2400 London Ranch Road in Glen Ellen.
